About Paul Twum-Barimah

Hon. Paul Apreku Twum-Barimah  hails from Kobedia-Asupra, a suburb of Dormaa in the Bono Region.

Hon. Paul, as he is affectionately called, is a result-oriented professional with in-depth experience in the Energy sector, Communications, Corporate Affairs Management, Community Relation, External and Government Relations and Regulatory Affairs. 

He began his basic education at the University of Ghana Staff Primary and JHS, Legon and continued to Pope John’s Secondary School in the Eastern Region. He holds a Bachelors’ Degree in Sociology and Information Studies from the University of Ghana, Legon, a Master’s Degree in Corporate Communications and Public Affairs from the Robert Gordon University in Scotland, a Certificate in Oil, Gas and Petroleum Management from the Ghana Institute of Management and Pubic Administration (GIMPA) and also a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of London, UK. 

Hon. Paul is a Ghanaian Politician serving as the Member of Parliament in the 8th Parliament of the 4th Republic of Ghana, since 7th January, 2021, for the good people of Dormaa East Constituency in the Bono Region of Ghana on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). As MP, he serves on the Special Budget, Poverty Reduction Strategy Mines amd Energy, Privileges and the Foreign Affairs Committees of Parliament. He also currently serve as a Board Member of Bui Power Authority and also on the Ghana Publishing Company Board.

Before becoming Member of Parliament, Hon. Paul worked as the Development Communications Coordinator for the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA). He was also in charge of Government Relations, Community Relations and Regulatory Affairs at Eni Ghana, one of the biggest oil and gas companies in the world. He was also once the  Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Manager for ZEN Petroleum, an Oil Marketing Company in Ghana. Earlier in his career, he worked as a Communications Officer for the British High Commission in Ghana. Hon. Paul was the Media, M&E Manager for EXP Ghana a marketing communications company whose clientele include MTN, Goldfields, Nestle, Unilever, among others.

He has considerable media experience from his school days as he  served as the Robert Gordon University (RGU) Radio Station’s Manager in UK and  before then he was the Head of Events & Productions at Radio Universe, Legon.

Hon. Paul believes in the ideology that; all lives have equal values and deserve equal opportunities. His top priority is to be a strong voice for the people of Ghana, to see the country develop into its full potential and to continue advocating for human rights for the less privileged in society.
